Laila Vintage Afghan Jaldar Rug

A beautifully detailed vintage Afghan rug in rich crimson and deep midnight blue, lifted by small accents of ivory, golden yellow and green.

Rows of intricate diamond medallions fill the centre, framed by finely patterned borders and pale fringed ends. Its compact proportions make it a lovely piece beside a bed, in an entrance hall or bringing colour and warmth to a favourite corner.

Hand-knotted with a wool pile, Laila reflects the patient craftsmanship of traditional rug making: individual knots build the pattern and textured surface, creating a piece with depth, warmth and its own distinct character.

Identified as an Afghan Jaldar rug, its geometric design draws on the region’s rich weaving heritage. Gentle variations in colour and the mellowed surface lend it the layered beauty we love in vintage textiles.

The rug retains a label recording professional cleaning and restoration by The Rug Shop of Tunbridge Wells in October 2020. Its precise production date is unknown.
