The Darya Vintage Persian Kilim Runner
A striking vintage Persian kilim runner, with a procession of intricate diamond medallions set against a deep midnight-blue ground. Rich red, warm orange, leafy green and ivory bring the pattern to life, framed by a narrow red border filled with delicate geometric details. Isn't it bloody spectacular!
Handwoven in wool in the mountainous north-west of Iran and believed to date from approximately 1950–1970, Darya reflects the enduring craftsmanship of Persian flatweaving. Coloured threads are interlaced to form both the textile and its pattern, creating a beautifully detailed surface without a raised pile that remains incredibly hard wearing to endure the chaos of modern life.
Its generous length and slender proportions make it especially lovely in a long hallway, bringing warmth, rhythm and colour through the home. Gentle variations in the wool and weave give this individual vintage piece its character.
Measurements: approximately 458cm × 90cm.
Material: handwoven wool.
Condition: very good vintage condition, with light signs of age and use.
Small irregularities in colour, weave and shape are part of its handmade character. There will be minor imperfections which are to be expected with a vintage piece. Please examine the photographs for details of its condition. A rug underlay is recommended.
